2022 started with some beautiful weather in Marathon Florida.
Jimi and I spent January 2nd at Sombero Beach.
We went to dinner with friends Jill & Tim on s/v Links and Michele & Sid on m/v Jubilee. After supper we went back to s/v Links to play farkle
Daniel and Chelsea arrived from Alaska on Saturday, January 8th. This mom was beside herself with excitement. Here they are arriving on the dinghy.
They had a long flight getting to Florida all the way from Alaska, so the first day we sat around to catch up and then they napped, woke up long enough to eat a late supper and then slept through the night.
They next day we were off for our first adventure.
Exploring Boot Key Island
Interesting large coral rock on the island.
This is one determined tree growing out of the coral rock.
Stumbled upon an old deserted camp.
What do you think Daniel? Can you fix it?
Before leaving the island, we walked up the bridge to no where to eat our picnic lunch.
We spent a day on bikes, out and about in Marathon.
Jim and Chelsea played giant Jenga at the tiki hut.
We went to Overseas pub for some good ole fashioned pool and pac man basketball.
In the end we went to Key West twice for a ton of fun.
We found a day to sail out to the reef, unfortionately is was kust slightly rough and not as warm as we would have liked. Chelsea got sea sick and wasn't able to snorkel, Jimi didn't snorkel, but he did get in the water to scrap the prop, I felt bad for Chelsea and chose not to snorkel and Daniel snorkeled for just a few minutes.
Daniel, Chelsea and I went to Sombero beach for an afternoon.
Our day of kayaking was among one of the best days during their visit. The weather was cooler, but as we were bundled up no one overheated.
Our evening on Sanibel were spent playing Balderdash or Mexican Train.
We stopped at the Miami beach on our way to the Fort Lauderdale airport. Crowded but beautiful!
Then Daniel and Chelsea flew back to Alaska on January 19th . We sure loved having them visit.
Jimi and I stayed on Sanibel for the remainder of January. I had alot of Cencorp work to catch up on and Jimi needed recoup time. We only left Sanibel for showers every third day and the occassional grocery run.
The temperatures turned cold with lows in the 40's at times and highs in the 50's.
This particular day we went in to take showers and the fog was coming in thick.
Another month down in Boot Kay Harbor.
Our next guests arrive on February 15th and leave on the 20th.
